A Lesson From Tiny Birds

I’m watching the small birds feeding outside my window and observing how, as some are eating, at least one appears to be watching out for predators, allowing the others to feed safely. I assume they will exchange roles so that they all can eat in safety over time.

It is beautiful how the watchful caring for another, by giving up a mere moment of our time, can ensure the survival of an entire species.

Let us not underestimate the power of a small act of kindness. We may not see the benefit in the moment, yet, as the tiny birds have demonstrated, our entire existence may be in our hands and in that brief moment that we look out for someone else.
